Late last February I received a phone call from my cousin in the Kootenay area of British Columbia asking me if I wanted a summer job in a Lodge. She knew I was thinking about moving to the area once I finished with my group in Peru. Without even thinking about it I replied, “Yes.” I did not ask what the job was or what the pay would be or any of the other details that one usually asks when agreeing to a job. It just felt right and I responded to it.

It was not until a month of so later that I found out that it was a housekeeping job at a small Lodge in the area and that I would be working with a friend of hers. Initially when I would tell my family and friends that I had a job in the Kootenay’s for the summer I would just say it was in a Lodge. My ego mind was a little embarrassed to tell them that I would be doing housekeeping, as if it was something beneath me. My ego mind still held to the story that I was a professional with a couple of university degrees and many years of experience as an educator. When I caught myself relating from this ego mind I would stop, look at it and then let it go with the saying “it is not what I do but how I be.” Soon I was telling everyone who asked, that I had a job housekeeping in a Lodge and I did it from the heart.

By the time I finally arrived in the Kootenay’s and started working I had released that ego story of who I was and was ready to take it on one day at a time and just enjoy. To begin with it was not easy and my body did a fair bit of complaining as muscles that had not been worked for years began to get a work out. I now have a new appreciation for the thousands of housekeepers around the world who do this for a living.

One day, as I made my way from room to room I had the realization that not so long ago I would have complained and moaned and then found a way to get out of my commitment, but my years of training in the Andes with my shaman friend taught me to focus the mind on what I was doing, do it well, and keep on going. This I did and each day I went into the Lodge with a smile on my face and song in my heart. Right from the beginning as I closed each door after cleaning the room I would say a blessing for whoever stayed in the room. Before long the aches and pains left and I felt a sense of accomplishment. I could spread light and shine love on anything I was doing. I came to realise that I had been given a wonderful opportunity to put into practise what I had been telling others for a long time, “It is not what you do, it is how you BE” that counts.

As we walk through our Earthly Experience, we so often get caught up in our story or hi-story of whom we are that we do not allow ourselves to experience the joy of just BEING in the moment and enjoying what ever we are doing. We get tangled in our ego’s idea of who we are and what that means from an ego perspective. For example, I am a professional with this or that qualification and therefore, I should have a job within this salary and benefits and I should not have to do this or that. OR the opposite, we view our selves from a limited ego story, I couldn’t do that because I don’t have any skills or no one would hire me for that job. We tend to put so much time and energy into our story that forget what is really important and that is the living in the moment with joy and has very little to do with what we do. We tend to place so many limits on ourselves by holding on to our ego story that we miss opportunities that might give us so much pleasure, satisfaction and joy.

I give thanks to the Creator for sending me this experience to fully know the power behind the saying “IT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO BUT HOW YOU BE.”

Love and blessings,

Wawa Quilla

I AM...

Thoughts are powerful and the spoken word is even more powerful. What we think and say, we create. With our thoughts and words we create a focus for our attention and what we put our attention on is created in our lives. This has been said before by many others but really how much attention have you given it?

As I listen to people speak I keep hearing people use the “I am formula.” What do I mean by the “I am formula”? The “I am formula” is a statement beginning with I am and followed by other words. Example of this are: I am tired. I am not feeling well. I am lonely. I am sick and tired of this. I am broke. I am a diabetic. I am I am angry. I am upset. I am a cancer survivor. I am late. I am busy. And the list goes on. Behind many of these “I am” statements is a feeling of hopelessness, victimization, and negative judgement. For I example the phrase “I am sick and tired of…….” will put out to Universe that you are sick and tired and that is what you will create in your reality. Is that what you really want to create in your reality?

It is very interesting to take a step back from your physical self and watch your thoughts and words. Watch how often you use the “I am formula” and what you are attaching to the “I AM”. As you watch your thoughts and words you will become aware of the power you are putting out to the Universe and thus creating in your life. I AM by itself is a very powerful and empowering statement, it is who you are, but by attaching a negative statement of judgement to I AM, you are creating a limited sense of who you are. You are a whole, perfect, and powerful creation of the Divine and your “I am” statements should reflect that.

I am whole, perfect and complete. I am as God created me.

Love and blessing,

Wawa Quilla

Changing Our Perspective/Changing Our World

What do you see when you look at this dream world all around you? Do you see chaos, pain, suffering, anger, hatred, seperation, fear, greed? Or do you see love, brotherhood, understanding, unity? The outer world is a mirror for what lies deep within us. The outer world is all a creation of our prespective, for what we think we see, we will see. So as you look out onto the world pay attention to what you see and what your reactions are. For each of these reactions is mirror of your interior, your spirit.

As you drive from one place to another in your automobile, how often do you get upset or even angry at other drivers? Have you ever considered that these so called careless drives are only mirroring your own anger, frustration and irritation? We think it is a reaction to something outside of ourselves but really it is a reaction to what is within. Every time we get upset, even the slightest irritation, we do not see it all stems from the irritation we feel within ourselves and has nothing really to do with the game being played outside ourselves. It is all a symptom of our irritation at being seperated from our higherselves, our true spirit. For spirit does not get anger, it does not have to for it is perfect, whole, complete.

As you sit around talking with your friends how often do you blame the world leaders for the mess everything is in? Have you ever thought about sending blessings to these leaders? I have heard so many people all around the world blame George Bush for the woes of the world but no one thinks to bless him. Bless him, yes, for if it were not for some of the drastic policies initiated by his governement people would not be coming awake in such large numbers. I have been blessing George Bush and his fellow politicians for many years because I know they are helping the world wake up. By changing our persecitive from one of attack to one of love we change the whole creation. In this way we create a new world rather than continue the cycle of attack. All it takes is a change in our prespective.

As you walk this spiritual path of self-discovery, how many of you place your focus on the divine feminine or feminine aspects of your self or of a place? Why do people feel they need to counter the masculine energy of this planet with the direct opposite of it? Is this not just pulling everying in the other direction creating aother polarization? Is this not just another manifesation of "us" and "them"? What we need to focus on now, at this time, is "us" the perspective of "Oneness". It is only when we can see the oneness in all that we will end the polarization of seperation. As each of us focuses on seeing Oneness and the brotherhood that unites us will we end the wars, racism, sexism that divids us. All it takes is a perspective of unity.

As you look upon your family, friends and aquaintances do you have a running dialogue going through your mind? Are you looking at them thinking, "If only they would do this or that, or change this or that, they would be so much better off." "Why don't they get it or why don't they see what is happening"? As this running dialodge is cluttering up our minds we are totally missing what is really there. We are so focused on the outer manifestation of their ego selves we miss seeing the bright light that shines within each and everyone. We miss the opportunity to set our focus, our perspective, on what is the real self....the spirit within. We miss the opportunity to just love. When we can look at another human being and love them despite all the outer accouterments we are entraining our own inner love of self with their and changing them, and ourselves, at a level beyound the eye.

Changing this world into a new and brighter one will only come when we start to change our perspective. When we look at the mirror around us and decide that we no longer what to view the world through the perspective of seperation, fear, anger and begin to change how we view thing we will change the world. We can only begin with ourselves. If we do not see everyone as brothers and sister nor every experience as a mirror of our inner selves then we are not changing and cannot help any one else. The use of coca leaves is an integral part of the Andean tradition in Peru and Bolivia but the coca plants are also found in other parts of the world. Plants are found in Columbia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Cameroon in Africa, Pakistan, India, and on the Islands of Java and Sri Lanka. It is only in Peru and Bolivia that the tradition of coca has carried on since time immemorial. Today these people face an on-going battle to defend their cultural use of coca against a western campaign, lead by the United States, which sees coca as cocaine and uses extreme methods of aerial fumigation and forced eradication by biological methods to stop the use of coca. For further reading on the eradication methods and its effects please see www.mamacoca.org. The ethnic groups that continue the tradition of coca have launched their own campaign “La coca no es droga or coca is not a drug”.

The sacredness of the coca plant stems from the Inca mythology, when Tayta Inti, father sun, saw that the people of the world were living no better than animals he sent his son, Manco Capac and his daughter, Mama Ocllo, to guide and teach the people. As part of the teachings Manco Capac, the first Inca, taught the people the many uses of the coca plant. For this reason the people of Andes believe that the plant is sacred. It is believed that the first to use the coca plant were the Aymara people from the Lake Titicaca region, the area from which Manco Capac first appeared and then spread to the Quechua people found the other regions of the Andes. Coca was used throughout the Incan Empire, which stretched from present day Ecuador, Columbia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and parts of Argentina and Brazil, although it is only in present day Peru and Bolivia that use of coca remains strong.

The people have always known of the great nutritional value that is within each coca leaf, although they may not have been able to give you a list of the all vitamins and minerals that are found in the coca leaves. They did know that it helped them to live at high altitudes with ease and that when they chewed the leaves it increased their energy enabling them to till their gardens and follow their herds of llama and alpacas up and down the mountain paths. In addition to this it also staid their appetite and thirst helping them to live and work at altitudes from 2,000 to over 3,000 meters above sea level. These people were also aware of the many curative properties of the coca leaf and use them as salves, compresses, and poultices.

Today through scientific research we know of the great nutritional value and healing properties of coca. “Studies done by the University of Harvard in 1975 entitled ‘The Nutritional Value of Coca Leaf’ has show that coca leaf contains the following nutrients.

Each 100 grams of Coca Leaf contains:
Total Nitrogen                                     =  20.06 mg
Total in volatile alkaloids = 0.70 mg
Fat                                                           =  3.68 mg
Carbohydrates                                    =  47.50 mg
Beta Carotene                                      =  9.40mg
Alpha Carotene                                   =  2.76 mg
Vitamin C                                            =  6.47 mg
Vitamin E                                            =  40.17 mg
Thiamine (vitamin B1)                      =  0.73 mg
Riboflavin (vitamin B2)                   =  0.88 mg
Niacin                                                 =  8.37 mg
Phosphate                                           =  412.67 mg
Potassium                                            =  1739.33 mg
Magnesium                                          =  299.30 mg
Sodium                                               =  39.41 mg
Aluminium                                           =  17.39 mg
Barium                                                =  6.18 mg
Iron                                                     =  136.64 mg
Strontium                                            =  12.02 mg
Boron                                                 =  6.75 mg
Copper                                               =  1.22 mg
Zinc                                                    =  2.21 mg
Magnesium                                          =  9.15 mg
Chromium                                           =  0.12 mg

In addition to the above nutrients, coca also contains 14 natural alkaloids that are beneficial for their digestive, circulatory, anti-fatigue and calming qualities. These natural alkaloids are:
·

Cocaine: has an anesthetetic and analgesic property.

Ecyonine: a carbolic derivative of an atropine has the capacity to metabolize fats, glucose and carbohydrates. It also thins bloods.

Pectine: is an absorbent anti-diuretic which when joined with vitamin E helps regulate the production of melanin in the skin.

Papaine: this product of protein (which is found in its greatest quantity in papaya) is very similar in structure to animal cathepsin that aids in the fermentation to accelerate digestion.

Hygrine: excites the salivatory glands when there is a deficiency of oxygen in the environment.

Globuline: It is a cardio tonic that regulates the lack of oxygen in the environment that helps improve blood circulation and aids in altitude sickness.

Pyridine: improves the functioning of the brain by increasing blood flow through the pituitary glands.

  Quinoline: with the aid of phosphorous and calcium aids in preventing tooth decay.

Conine: is an anaesthetic.

  Cocamine: is an analgesic.

Reserpine: regulates pressure in the arteries and prevents hiccups and hypertension as well as helping in the production of cells in the formation of bones.

Benzoyne: has a therapeutic property for gastritis and ulcers.

Inuline: refreshes and improves the functioning of the liver, the secretions of bile and its accumulation in the vesicle. It is a diuretic, which helps to eliminate toxic substances. It also helps promote the production of healthy blood cells.

Atropine: is a neurotransmitter, whose function is to mediate the synaptic activity of the nervous system.

These fourteen alkaloids, the amino acids they contain, the acids, and vitamins A, B1, C and E, thiamine, niacin, and riboflavin make coca a plant with the highest quality of non-proteinic nitrogen in the world. The combination of these helps to eliminate toxins and pathogens from the body. It also has solubility and hydration properties.” (The above nutritional and alkaloid information taken from http://www.mamacoca.org/feb2002/art_coca_no_es_cocaina_en.htm)

When considering that many of the people in the high altitude rural areas of the Andes have a very basic diet of carbohydrates and meat and lacking in fresh fruit and vegetables, one can see how important coca is to their dietary needs. It also may account for the low incidence of cardiovascular diseases among the indigenous population of coca chewers.

The coca leaf is not only an important part of the Andean diet; it also serves as a fundamental part of their social structure and interaction. In the Andean culture they practise a form of reciprocal interchange called ayni. The concept of ayni is based in the idea that you help me today and I will help you tomorrow. This concept can take many forms and plays a part in many different social interactions, but one thing you will find in all these transactions is a sharing of coca leaves before the transaction is completed.

One of the main activates in which the principal of ayni takes place is in the planting, tending and harvesting of crops in the rural areas. This work is often done as a community and not individually because much of the labour is still done by hand or with the use of oxen pulling a wooden plough. Each day before the labour begins the people of the community will sit together, share some food, chew coca leaves and discuss what needs to be done that day. This process of sharing coca leaves will continue throughout the day as the group takes breaks or finishes for the day. This same process of ayni and sharing of coca leaves also takes place when building a home for community members.

In the Aymara communities around Lake Titicaca coca is used when asking for ayni. If a man or a woman asks for ayni from someone they will offer a handful of coca. If the person being asked the favour takes the coca then he or she agrees to the ayni.

When visiting someone’s house or when sitting around in a social gathering coca leaves are passed around. In a manner of bonding, trust and goodwill each person will bring out their coca bundle and prepare a kintu (three perfect coca leaves placed one on top the other) for each person in the group. These are presented to each person by holding the kintu with the thumb and forefinger of both hands with the shiny side of the leaves up. The person being offered the kintu also takes it with the thumb and forefinger of both hands holding on to the end with stem. Still holding it with both hands the person then offers an invocation to Pachamama (Mother Earth), to the spirit of the mountains, to the ancestors, to the creator and to all those gathered. They then gently blow on the leaves three times before putting them in the mouth for chewing. After each person has presented a kintu to each other person in the gathering, they then freely select and add leaves to the wade that is forming in their cheek. Once this sharing of leaves has taken place, conversation flows and a bond has been created with all those gathered.

All Andean rituals are celebrated around the coca leaves. They are offered in thanks for blessings, as offerings to Pachamama (Mother earth) for a good growing season and harvest, to the various Apus (spirits) for watching over them, for a good luck, to bless a marriage, business, or birth and the list goes on. Offerings can be in the form of a kintu, a hand full of coca in which an innovation is said or in a more formal despacho (offering) ceremony where a very special offering is made by first laying down a bed of coca leaves and then adding a wide range of others things including grains, incense, bits of llama, sweets and various items representing symbols for whatever the despacho is being offered. Coca is present for all the important moments of ones life.

Coca is not only part of the Andean people’s survival, but it is a sacred part of their lives, their culture, and their heritage. Mama Coca is not a drug but a part of thousands of years of a cultural heritage for the Andean people. To deprive them of this cultural heritage is to deny them their right to live and practise what they hold most sacred. The western world needs to view the use coca leaves with different eyes and see it’s many benefits and not focus solely on the production of cocaine, which is a chemical concoction far removed from the use of the fresh leaves.

Love and blessing,
Wawa Quilla

The Magic of Machu Picchu

All of my life has been a spiritual journey.

I’ve been all around the world on this journey and when it finally led me to Machu Picchu, Peru, I knew I had found my spiritual home. And now it seems natural that I personally guide others who also want to explore the mystical powers and gifts of this ancient sacred site.

I have always had psychic abilities and been drawn to nature. Yet the practical side of me pursued two degrees in Education and Educational Management. In 1983, I left Canada for a two year job in Nigeria. This turned into 20 years of wandering around the globe working in international schools in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

During these years exploring different cultures and places I developed more compassion and understanding for all the people on Earth, a greater trust in my intuition and the many synchronicities that flowed in my life, as well as a deep respect and love for Mother Earth. So it was a natural step for me to become interested in shamanism which holds that we are connected to all people, plants, animals, rocks and earth on this planet as well as all things in the universe.

Over the years my interest in shamanism led me to work with shamans in Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil and Peru. But it was in March, 2003 that this interest changed my life very drastically. While working with a shaman in Brazil I had a powerful vision that showed me very specifically that it was time to go to Peru and more specifically to Machu Picchu. I was shown that if I followed this path it would be necessary to step outside my comfortable world of international education with all of its perks and devote myself to the path of spiritual understanding. It was an enormous decision but I knew within that this was what I had to do. So in June, 2004 I found myself in Cusco with only my vision and trust in a higher force to guide me.

A short while after arriving in Peru I made my way to Machu Picchu. The moment I had my first view of the sanctuary of Machu Picchu I knew that after 20 years of wandering I had come home. With tears running freely down my cheeks the site spoke to my heart in a way that no other place on Earth had.

It was during this first visit that I met the Guardian shaman of Machu Picchu. From that first meeting we both felt like we had known each other all our lives and a strong connection was made. Since then, with the help of this man as well as a few others, I have learned to walk the path of the shaman and share my knowledge with those who come on my guided journeys.

Although I am considered a shaman, it is only a label, for everyone is a shaman waiting to be awakened and once the spirit is awake then the learning, growing and expanding continues as long as we walk on this Earth. The label is not important, rather it is the integrity with which one walks the path that is most important.

Andean shamanism is like shamanism the world-over in that it is nature based. The essence of Andean shamanism is a strong connection to Pachamama or Mother Earth, all the elements of nature and a respect for the divine creation. By connecting with all the elements of nature and the divine flow of the universe we also learn to flow and create. We literally become part of the oneness of all things.

Andean shamanism teaches us that all things have energy and properties beyond the material and physical and when we learn to work with them we discover their hidden powers as well as the great powers hidden within ourselves. When one uses the techniques of the Andean shamanism, one is able to connect and transcend the physical and enter the realm of the spirit world.

Since the Andeans believe that all the Earth is sacred the whole planet is considered a sacred place. But there are places that are considered special or sacred based on location, the combination of various elements of nature such as the relationship between earth, air, and water or those considered to have special powers or spirits.

Machu Picchu is considered one of those sacred places because of its location within concentric circles of mountains, the river circling the base of the mountain it stands upon, the great quantities of quartz crystal found there (which is why it is also called the Crystal City) and the fact that it was constructed in complete harmony with the physical and cyclical aspects of nature.

The most important spirit in the Andes is the Apus or the mountains. The Apus represent the Hanac Pacha or the upper sphere and act as antennae to other dimensions. There is an inner and outer ring of mountains which act as guardians and create a power circle with Machu Picchu at the centre. Each of these mountains has special properties and energies. To those who come with a clear and pure intent these ancient mountains will open up and share their energetic powers with you.

Machu Picchu sits at 2,450 metres above sea level and around its base flows the waters of the Wilkamayu River that eventually flows into the Amazon River. In the Andean shamanic tradition, water is a great purifying force.

We begin our journey in Lake Titicaca because by working with the water to wash and balance us we begin to clear away any heavy energy we are carrying around with us. It also helps to open us to the work we do with the other elements in the different locations.

Lake Titicaca is also considered sacred because it is from Lake Titicaca that Wiracocha, the creator, brought the sun, moon, stars and planets out of the lake to take their place in the sky thus providing light for a dark world. With time the sun and the moon had children who also arose from the lake and went on to populate the four corners of the world.

Another sacred place is the ‘Gate of the Gods’ or Amara Muru Doorway. This inter-dimensional portal, which faces Lake Titicaca, lies in a wonderland of strange natural rock formations that are in stark contrast to the surrounding area. Legend says that Amara Muru stepped through the portal leaving this three-dimensional world forever. There are many legends in the area telling of people who have gone through the portal never to return (although I do know one person who entered the portal and did return).

The area within the triangle of Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu and the Amazon is considered a power vortex. The jungle of the Amazon basin is also considered sacred because of the great life force that lies within it. Within these three areas are strong energy lines that connect the various sites and the regions.
In addition to these energy lines, each of the areas we visit on my guided tour connects us to the four main elements. Lake Titicaca represents the element of water that washes and balances us. Machu Picchu represents the element of air that purifies and enlightens us. The Amazon represents earth that cleans and transforms us. Above us, Tayta Inti (or Father Sun), shines on us representing the element of fire that transmutes and sanctifies us.

I had a very powerful experience working with the earth element. We do a ceremony where we ask Pachamama to take or absorb something in our life that we no longer want to carry around. In this instance, I wanted to be rid of a fear I was carrying. In this ceremony each person runs around a circle stating the thing that that they wish the earth to rid of them of. Then after some time we lay on the ground in the exact middle of the circle with our belly buttons pressed into the earth and feel what ever it is we are getting rid of the flow into the earth. As I lay there feeling the earth take my fear I began to feel my self enter the ground and Mother Earth wrap her arms around me like a mother would do for a child. As my fears left I felt the intense love that Mother Earth has for each us. This experience made me realize the earth is a living breathing soul.

I had one client who was carrying around great amounts of anger and frustration. After leaving the lake and proceeding along to Machu Picchu and then the Amazon, the source of the anger and frustration began to reveal itself and she was able to acknowledge and clear them. Upon returning to her home and work, her friends and family thought that a new person had arrived home. Since then she has made changes in her life to incorporate what she learned on this trip.

I had another client who, after the tour, left a job that he disliked and found the courage to pursue a career more in line with what he really wanted to do.

The tour is designed specifically so that awareness opens gradually so that there is some time for reflection and integration. Each place and each step leads to the next level. This is more than a tour it is an experience! It pulls us to and fro creating dissention and unbalance. Good-bad, light-dark, female-male, love-hate, right-wrong, weak-strong, us-them, right-left, up-down, peace-war, safe-dangerous, rich-poor, mine-yours, white-black and the list goes on and on. This polarity pulls us apart and keeps us from discovering the beauty of one. It traps us in judgement and labels that pull us to one side or the other of the polarity game. By being pulled to one side or the other, we then stand our ground defending and protecting that side of duality. We are right they are wrong. This is right that is wrong. But what is right and what is wrong? Are they not really part of the same thing? If there was no right would there be a wrong? No, for if we stopped thinking something was right or wrong both labels would disappear. The situation would just be. When we allow ourselves to let things just be, we become closer to oneness.

It is this place of oneness where we will find peace, joy and love. In oneness there is no separation or differences. We are one and everything is part of us. The part is the whole and the whole is the part. We are a part of the whole and we are the whole. It stands to reason then that the way we look and think about the world is really a reflection of how we look at our selves. If we see the world as a chaotic divided place then that is a reflection of what lies within. For what is within reflects without, which is the same principle as “as above so below”. When we change our thinking from the polarity of good or bad and us or them, replacing it with a knowing that we are infinite oneness with everything then it is easy to see that we are the Creator and the Creator is us. By ending the polarity within, we end the polarity without and in its place create space for tolerance, peace and love. The task of changing this polarized world begins with the inner place of self. When we change the inner self by acknowledging our oneness to everything, we then are changing the whole. In this way the collective consciousness changes and we create a peaceful loving place to live. The place for answers is not outside but inside, inside each of us and only we, ourselves, can change the inside.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

INFINITE POSSIBLIITES

For some time now I have been pondering the essence of our DNA. Deep within my centre of knowing there is a key here but one that, I sense, does not follow the lines of all that has so far been explained or discovered. I feel that in many ways we are once more being misled and lead down a garden path, so to speak.

I have read the theories of how we originally had more DNA, theories of alien manipulation of our DNA, the medical discoveries of how DNA plays a part in our human makeup, other theories of DNA harvesting and so on. But deep within my knowing I know there is more.

Recently this thread has been working its way into my knowing. We are told by scientists that we use only a tiny part of our brain, we are also told that we are only able to see and sense only a minute fraction of the matter that is around us, and we are told that most of the DNA within our bodies is junk DNA. I, for one, cannot accept that we have all of this within and it is useless and cannot be accessed. It is there, therefore it is meant to be used and it has a purpose. Is it among the remaining 80% of our brain, the 95% of our senses and the 95% of our DNA (all approximate figures) that the answers to all our questions are to be found? Is it here, in these unused portions of our being that lays the ability to transcend the physical, the ability for teleporting and telepathy, the knowledge of healing and the knowledge of all? I know that it is. That is why we are repeatedly told to go within for there all the answers are found. It is not in things outside us, our gurus, our leaders, our scientists, our rituals, our religions, and the all the other material trappings of this so-called 3-D world. It is all within.

What we see, feel and touch is really all an elaborate illusion of mind tricking us into thinking it is solid. We are trapped in it by believing it is solid and that this is all there is. It is our thoughts and mind that keep us from experiencing what lays beyond the illusion. We are trapped in the “I think therefore I am” framework. I have written before that thoughts create but thoughts also block. Thoughts which question, label, judge, compartmentalize and classify things block us from knowing. We use our thoughts through memory to experience this world. We cannot see, hear, feel or sense the other 95% of what is around us because it is blocked by our thoughts and memory bank of experiences which tells us it cannot be because we have not experienced it before. The mindless chatter of trivial things that keeps us away from our awareness of all the other great possibilities available to us.

When we stop the mind, open up to infinite possibility and are in a state of total awareness with no thought, no judgement and no labelling the most amazing things can happen. Let me share with you one personal example. In October 2004, I spent a night of pure magic on top Huayna Picchu mountain in Peru, a peak to the north of Machu Picchu. The following morning just after sunrise, my friend Kucho and I were sitting on a flat rock at the very top of the mountain. Kucho was lying next to me fast asleep in the warm sunlight and I was sitting cross-legged looking at the mountains in the near distance. I was in a state of no thought and completely relaxed in the moment, just observing. As I sat looking at the mountains, I felt a slight tingling running through my body, which I acknowledged but gave no thought. As I continued to gaze at the mountains they began to disappear. The only way I can describe what happened is to say that I saw or was aware of a pale green rain, which began above the mountain peaks, and as it slowly made its way down everything before me disappeared. A whole section of Andean mountains just disappeared. I sat for several moments watching, I cannot tell you how long I sat for in that state there is no time, but the instant I went to the mind and thought “Wow,” all the mountains returned. I have been shown the illusion of this world several times while in trance, but never, until that moment, had it happened in a totally present state. This is what we do not experience because the mind/thoughts block it from us, as it did as soon as I went into my thinking mind. Since then I have experienced the illusion of the 3-D world several times and always the moment I go back into thinking mode I find myself back in this 3-D reality. All of this is very hard to explain and unless one experiences them, very difficult for anyone to accept. All I will say in my defence is, it happens, of that I have no doubt. We are capable of these experiences but it is our thoughts, beliefs and fears that keep us from going there. But even more important than disappearing mountains and walking into other realities, what else could we do with this ability of changing realities? We really can change our reality! We can change the world we live in.

It is these experiences and knowing that 95% of our inner capacity is unused that gets me excited. It gets me excited because therein lies infinite possibilities. Our present limited mind and mental concepts cannot even being to imagine everything that is possible. Because we cannot fathom the possibilities that are waiting for us, we must let go of old outdated mental concepts and open up to what could be. It is not some outside force that we need to tap into, but the inner force that has the capacity to really transform our lives. The sad part is that many cling to this so-called solid world for fear of losing control. My question is, who is in control and who is being controlled? Fear holds so many back, the fear of the unknown, the fear of losing control, the fear of breaking out of the comfort zone, and I sense a fear of their own power. But if it is all an illusion, as I know it to be, then what really are we holding on to and why? Wouldn’t it be better to create a world without war, hunger, poverty, pollution and inequality? Create a world where we all live in peace, harmony, understanding and love or even more, a world of infinite possibilities.

No guru, method or practise can really teach this to anyone. At best the various methods and practises can provide some general guidelines, but we should not become a slave to these methods and practises. We need to be flexible and open and allow ourselves to explore the infinity of possibilities that await us. Each of us must find it ourselves by going within and being totally present and aware. Once you do find this source within you will not need to rely on anyone or anything for you will KNOW! Once you know that is all there is.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

A Journey Without Expectations

Many people have asked me how I have achieved this state of calm and peace. When I am asked this question I get the impression that what I am really being asked is “How can I have it too? Show me the way.” Everyone can have it, but the important thing to know is that it is not the destination that is important but all the steps along the way. We have heard many times that it is not the destination that is important but the journey. This is so true, but the problem is that we live in a world that has become used to quick and easy gratification, so we lose sight of the journey and only see what we want to achieve at the end of it. We are in a hurry to get to the destination but forget to take time to look and enjoy the scenery along the way. Each and every road has its charm and lessons; no one road is the correct road for all. If we do not have fun and enjoy each part of the path how can we then expect to enjoy the destination? We wait for enlightenment or spiritual revelations thinking that this is all there is. This is a destination, but why wait? You can have all of it NOW. Lighten up, enjoy where you are NOW by taking your eyes off the destination, stop labelling and qualifying each moment just enjoy them. Stop questioning and wait in the moment. When you release all expectations, all questioning of what is right and wrong and trying to judge your progress based on the world around you, you lose sight of what is important; the NOW. When all the questions and labels are released you will find the great peace and calm that comes from just Being.

Can you imagine not questioning and only waiting in awareness? I have no questions. I merely enjoy the moment and wait in an awareness of all. I have no predetermined destination or expectations. I do not demand to know or judge or qualify the moment. I am a dolphin swimming with ease and fluidity in the presence of the wonderment of all each and every day.

The enjoyment of the moment also comes from reaching a point in my life where I have stopped counting the steps and the extra-ordinary moments. When one comes to the moments when one realises that magic and miracles happen all the time, every day, and they are just a part of the greater knowing, one has arrived. No longer do I feel the need to count and record all these special times. They just are! They are part of me and part of my every day life! They happen all the time, in ways large and small. All that I do now is give thanks to the Creator and enjoy.

I do not need to know why and where and when. I am happy with the knowledge that I know all and yet know nothing. I know that Now at this Moment everything is Perfect! There is nothing else. Enjoy and be happy with the journey! Take your eyes off the destination and see the miracles all around you each day! I know that when you do this you will realise how blessed you are and see that you have achieved enlightenment in the NOW.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla
Jan 2006

Tapping into the Universal Consciousness

As this New Year began I was reflecting on how powerful my connection to the Oneness of All is. As I pondered this truly awesome connection, I could see the potential it has for all of us. The connection to the Oneness of All is the key to realizing our full potential, our dreams, our creativity and our limitless options of knowing. It is this connection that will lead the way to a better world. To activate this power one must begin in Nature away from the concrete jungle and harsh vibrations of the completely unnatural artificial cities.

Eckhart Tolle (2003. p. 77-78) explains this beautifully when he says:

“Whenever you bring your attention to anything natural, anything that has come into existence without human intervention, you step out of the prison of conceptualized thinking and, to some extent, participate in the state of connectedness with Being in which everything natural still exists.

To bring your attention to a stone, a tree, or an animal does not mean to think about it, but simply to perceive it, to hold it in your awareness.

Something of its essence then transmits itself to you. You can sense how still it is, and in doing so the same stillness arises within you. You sense how deeply it rests in Being – completely at one with what it is and where it is. In realizing this, you too come to a place of rest deep within yourself.”

From this state of stillness, rest, and no thought comes an even greater connection. A connection to All! This connection to All is our gateway to the knowledge, information and creativity of the essence of life and knowing since the beginning of time. All of this information is there waiting for us to still our minds and to access it. It is there waiting for us to use. The knowledge of all creation within our solar system, as well as all other solar systems and the entire Universe are there for us to tap into. Within it, is the knowledge of all our ancestors both here and on other planets; the knowledge contained in the Universal Consciousness. We all have access to the Universal Consciousness. Each of us can tap into this limitless Universal library. It is within this library were we will find the solutions to this world of woe we have created on Earth. In this library we will find the solution to cleaning up the massive pollution we have created, the solution to free and natural energy, the solution to end wars, hunger, disease, and poverty, and the way for us to live in harmony with All. By connecting to the Universal Consciousness of All, we find a peace and calm that can be found in no other place.

Using our present mental constructs, we cannot even begin to form a mental concept of infinite number of possibilities held within the Universal Consciousness; therefore it is essential to enter into the stillness within with no thought, no perceived notions and to trust and to listen to the intelligence of the Oneness of All. It all begins with one’s connection to Nature. When one sees the Creator in all of Nature, then it is easy to see and feel the Creator in everything else, even that which we cannot see.

Why would anyone choose the limiting and constricting constructs of the mind when one can tap into the limitless possibilities of Universal knowledge?

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

Tolle, Echart. Tis the season of consumerism and materialism at its most obscene. Everywhere one goes one is bombarded by someone trying to sell you something, others trying to make you feel guilty, or others putting on a grand show of season cheer. This onslaught of the senses and emotions adds to the dis-ease of many. Many, who are already ensnared by other forms of dis-ease related to the false pursuit of the material. As I watch this insane engulfing people I cannot help but wonder where the much acclaimed "peace on earth" of this season is, because this barrage of the senses is a full frontal attack and has nothing to do with peace.

Shortly after I arrived, I was give a card by a dear friend. This card reads:
"Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the mist of these things and still be calm in your heart."

For me, this is the peace on earth. It is the peace and calm that comes from within. It is a peace that can watch this maddness of Christmas swirling around me and yet not be affected by it. It is a peace of knowing that this calm lasts all year around and not just at Christmas. It is a peace of knowing that what really counts is the inner voice of each of us. It is a peace that knows that the only real thing is the love radiating from your heart and flowing to ALL without judgement, labelling or competing. It is a peace that embraces ALL; human, animal, plant and mineral. This inner calm and peace is the real gift of the season to yourself, humanity, and to all others here on earth. It is this peace that you need to embrace and spread. This is the real "Peace on Earth."

May the peace of your inner knowing shine today, tomorrow, and everyday as you continue on your journey of experience and relearning on this temporary home called Earth.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

GENTLE WORDS FROM THE PAST

As a teenager struggling to find myself the words of this poem had a big impact on me. May you find wisdom in its message!

Once upon a time there was a king of a grand and powerful kingdom. In his luxurious court he had many wise men and women who offered him counsel. Although he had great wealth, good health and all that he desired, he wanted to know the meaning of life. He commanded his wise people to tell him the meaning of life, but none could.

One day a humble elderly servant approached the king, saying he knew the meaning of life. The king became very excited and demanded to know. The servant said he would tell the king the meaning of life, but only under certain conditions. The king quickly agreed. The servant then said he would inscribe the words on the inside of a ring, but the king was not to read the inscription unless his life was in danger. The king readily agreed.

It came to pass a few years later, that the kingdom was attacked and the king was forced to flee for his life. As he fled the city on his trusty steed he was pursued by the enemy. The king had a head start on the enemy and road off toward the mountains. As he rode high into the mountains he came to a huge cliff with a gapping precipice and could go no further. As he sat there listening the hooves of the enemy, he remembered the ring. He quickly pulled the ring off his finger and read the inscription. It said, “This will pass.”

The king sat back in his saddle puzzled. Once more his attention was focused on the sound of the pounding hooves. To his surprise the sound seemed to be going away from him. His pursuers had lost his track and were heading of in another direction.

In the end the king’s army won the battle and the kingdom was restored. The king in deep gratitude made the humble servant his personal aide. In a short period of time the kingdom regained all of its former splendour and wealth. To celebrate the king ordered a grand parade with great shows of opulence and fanfare. As the king and his personal aide were riding through the streets of this rich kingdom, the aide turned to the king requesting that amidst this grandeur the king read again the inscription on the ring. The inscription read, “This will pass.”

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

LIFE'S BLESSINGS

She is sitting high on a mountain top on the bare ground connected to Mother Earth. Around her are piles of earth, boards, adobe bricks, and an assortment of building material. It is a barren spot with only a few hardy shrubs. Below her are the bright city lights. Above her is a bright half moon and stars twinkling blue, white and gold.

She sits on the cold ground in complete peace. She feels the connection to the Cosmos, to Mother Earth and to all that is. She feels this total connection to all deep in her heart and in the essence of her being. This feeling began as a tingling sensation in her physical body. It encompasses her whole body and then settles in the heart with an intensity that is almost too much for the physical. This feel in one of a pure intense love. A love that began as a spark then grew into a fire and then rages as a conflagration that radiates from her heart in waves. It grows and grows; expands and expands! There is a slight discomfort to the physical as the inner crystal energy of love flows out.

Once more she receives a quick flash of the 50 years of her life; the struggles, the difficulties, the happiness, the sadness, the joys, the gifts, and the blessings. Then from out of her inner being comes the words, “How can one person be so very blessed? Why has my whole life been so very blessed?” These words and this feeling are not new to her. They come often but always they come as if anew. She feels like she is about to burst with love, gratitude and blessings. She thinks and feels again, “How can one life be so very blessed?”

May you also feel you are blessed in all things.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

SIMPLICITY OR LESS IS MORE

As I was being given the information for the article “What Does It Mean,” I was taken back to the year 1983. That year for me was incredibly significant, for it was in 1983 that my teenage vision of living and working overseas came true and my life as a wanderer came to be.

Before 1983 I was like other North Americans, I had a college degree, a good job, a secure and comfortable middle class life, and I took many things for granted. Unlike many North Americans, it was not enough for me. So, in the summer of 1983 I found myself in Nigeria as a volunteer. I guess like many others, I had an idealistic view of who I was and what my role would be in this poor country. I must say that those idealist notions did not last long. For when the initial romance and honeymoon period of exploring a new country was replaced with the reality of where I was, how long I would be there, and the conditions in which I would have to live finally hit, it was crash time.

I had been in the country about three months before I arrived at my new home. It just so happened that I was to be alone in my post, which was not standard policy for the organisation I was with, but that is what happened. It was when the Headmistress of the school took me to my house that the reality of everything hit me. I entered this three bedroom bungalow, with its army green dirty walls, dilapidated furniture, missing floor tiles, no water, sometimes electricity, dust, spider webs, and termites and then realised that this was would be my home for the next two years. When the Headmistress left, I sat in the middle of the dust covered living room floor and cried. The thought going through my mind was, “What have I done?” As the crying subsided, a voice spoke to me saying, “This is what you wanted. You have two choices, you can either go back home to your comfortable life or you can stay here and make the most it.” As I sat there I realised that yes, this is what I wanted to do. I got up from the floor looked around and thought, cloth for curtains.

This was the beginning of one the greatest times in my life. In that situation I learned how deal with running water for only one hour a day, electricity some of the time, creating menus around the limited supply of food in the local market, living on pennies a day (for I only received the equivalent of a Nigerian teacher’s salary), fitting into a completely different culture, teaching with extremely limited resources, and being totally alone to face it all. It was a time when my creativity and resourcefulness blossomed. It was also a time when I was happiest and felt the freest.

It was also a time when I learned the value of community and sharing. The village I lived in accepted me as part of them. This was especially evident when at one point the teachers in the state were not paid for three months that included me. As I waited to be paid and counted the dwindling supply of coins the community came to help. After the first month of no pay, I would find a tomato, a small amount of beans or rice, an egg, an onion or other small offerings of food on my door step each morning. One day, I asked the local chief why the people where doing this. For me, a western from an affluent country, this was a bit embarrassing. He told me that the people of the village knew I was alone and without family. The other Nigerian teachers had family to take care of them but I did not, so they were helping me as I was helping them in the school. I cannot tell you how I felt, the intense gratitude to these people who has so little. This great sense of community and sharing! This for me was the greatest gift that I have ever received, but also not the last gift I was to receive from these people who have so little. It is, but one of the many experiences I had during my two years in Nigeria.

When I left Nigeria and in later years when I had more lucrative jobs, I would often think of this time. The message always was that I was happiest when I had the least. This was brought back to me when in 1990, I was left with out a job, money and possessions due to the Invasion of Kuwait, but that is another story. When in 2001 I found myself back in Africa, this time in Ethiopia, the period of time I spent in Nigeria kept coming back. My situation in Ethiopia was totally different. I had a three bedroom house but this time with all the comforts of North America. And although, I loved Ethiopia and had a great job, something was wrong. What was missing was the simplicity of life. The adage of less is more kept coming back. In 2004 I left Ethiopia with only a back pack and now I am back to simplicity and much, much less. I am back to that state of happiness and peace where the material is no longer important. I have what I need at this moment and if for some reason should it all be taken for me, well so be it. It is only a few things nothing more. I know I can survive with little and I know I would be perfect content with that.

With this story of one my experiences, I hope you can see that less is more. We really can live with little and when the things we have accumulated do not clutter up our lives, we are able to focus on what is really important – our connection to the ONENESS in ALL THINGS! It is when we are without the distraction of protecting and holding on to the material that we see how beautiful simplicity really is.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

WHAT DOES IT MEAN

What do all the hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, droughts, volcanoes and prophecies mean? It means we have run out of time. Time in the linear sense, that we know it in this dimension. Time to stop this madness we call “progress”. Time, to take a good at our lives and see what really counts.

What really counts is the quiet still voice within that cries for attention, cries to be heard and acknowledged. The voice inside that says, “We are all one. We are all connected to ALL. Everything, including all those things that our minds cannot even begin to fathom, is all connected”. It is time to look and go beyond what we think is real, we think is important. It is time to gaze deeply and attentively into the obsidian mirror of our being and seek the truth that lies there.

How much longer do you think you can continue to live the LIE of so called “progress”? This progress that we calculate through expansion and the ‘grow or perish’ syndrome, which keeps us chained to meaningless work and uncontrolled consumerism. We have created a wildfire that is now burning out of control and is about to consume us. But there is still time!

Time to take a good look at your life! How much longer are you going to chase meaningless deadlines? Dead-lines! Look at that word closely, what do you see? Deadlines that only serve to make someone else rich, while keeping you trapped in the blindness of consumerism. How much longer are you going to buy the lie of progress? The lie that keeps you running in circles, chasing seemingly important shadows, buying more and more things that you do not need, and which keeps you from the truth. The lie, which has succeeded in polluting our waters, earth, air and our lives. The lie that keeps you from stopping, going within and reflecting on the meaning of it all. The lie that keeps you from realising the simple truths; less is more, harmony with all things and that joy, happiness and peace can only come from within.

This is what it means. Humanity has bought the lie of so called progress and the in the process we have destroyed our home-Earth. Now Mother Earth, Pachamama, Gaia, our home is saying, “Enough”. It is NOW the moment when we must change. Change our ways, change our thoughts, and change our lives. Mother Earth is only helping us to see that more clearly. Now is the time to stop the lie and to connect with the Creator within. Now is the time to peer deeply into the obsidian mirror of our being. All it takes is one step, but do you have the courage to take that step?

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

MOUNTAIN STANDING

The mountains stand tall and firm,
Reaching towards the heavens
With their based deeply rooted in the earth.
A connection between the Cosmos and the Earth.
Deep within the heart of the mountain
The crystal heart beats and shines.

Now with the shifting, turning, changing times
We too must stand firm,
With our heads reaching towards the Cosmos
And our feet deeply rooted in the Earth.
Our crystal hearts the connection to All
sending out the message – LOVE!

Within each of us is a great transmitter.
A transmitter that for so long has been ignored
And scorned while favouring the mind.
This transmitter is beautiful and multifaceted.
It lies wrapped in the red beating heart
Like the centre of a lotus.
It is the crystal of light that shines with each one.
It is the essence of our being.
When infused with the infinite of love of all
Our crystal heart radiates likes a prism
All the colours of the rainbow
To all who come near.

Stand firm my friends
Be like the mountain.
But most of all connect to the infinite love of the Creator.
Let this infinite love flow through the crystal within
And transmit rainbows of love where ever you go.

Love and blessings,

Wawa Quilla

POSSESSIONS

Possessions.

That tangled mix of attachment, memories and fears.

Things and objects that cloud the vision and enslave the soul.

Things and objects that clutter the cupboards, basements, garages and houses.

Things that some day will be needed.

Things that evoke memories – happy, sad, bittersweet.

Things used once then discarded in a heap.

Things one is so fearful of losing.

Innate objects defended with our lives.

They are but things.

And once more, I give thanks to the Creator for all.

How often do you give thanks to the Creator for all that you have in your life? We often give thanks for the immediate things in our lives, but have you considered giving thanks to all the unseen forces that bring these things into your life. For example, we give thanks for our food, but do not thank Mother Earth for the soil and her minerals that give nourishments in your food, for the farmers who grew the food, those who picked the food, those who transported it the market, those in the market who make the enticing displays, or the thousands of other people and resources that provide us with our daily nourishment. This kind thankfulness should be extended to all that you have in your life, your clothes, furniture, appliances etc.

Do you remember to give thanks to the Creator for the sun, rain, wind, air, and water? We take all of these for granted, especially air. We breathe in and out with little thought, but if it were taken away we would not live. The same goes for water and sunlight. We taken so much for granted and forget that these things are so important in our lives.

We also need to give thanks for all our experiences in life, for each of these is a learning experience. When we can learn to give thanks for even the difficult times, we soon realise that they are not so difficult after all.

When we start to give thanks for all that we have in our lives we see how abundant our lives really are.

A few years ago, I read a book that instructed one to sit down and make a "list of abundance". In this list one was to write down 200 things that one was thankful for in one's life. I looked at it and thought, "200, wow, that is a lot," but when I started to make my list I found myself filling pages. I realised how truly rich and abundant my life was. For about a year after, at the end of each day I would sit down and write 20 things I was thankful for that day. As time went on, I no longer needed to make a list, for I found myself during the course of each day silently giving thanks for the many things in my life. Each night before I go to sleep I give thanks to the Creator for another beautiful day and the many blessings that day held. This exercise now has become part of my daily life and as a result my life is filled to overflowing with abundance and thankfulness.

I do not own many things. Most of my possessions would fill two suitcases. I do not own a car, a house and do not have a job, but my life is abundant and blessed in ways too numerous to count. This is true abundance.

If you do not feel and see this great abundance in your life, try the "list abundance". Once you do, you will see how truly blessed and rich your life really is.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

SAYINGS

Navajo Proverb

I have been to the end of the Earth.

I have been to the end of the waters.

I have been to the end of the sky.

I have found none that are not my friends.

NOW at this MOMENT all is PREFECT.

Wawa Quilla

FREEWILL AND RESPONSIBILITY

The time has come for each of us to take responsibility for our actions. Over the years we have given our personal responsibility for actions away to someone else. Mostly, we have given away our responsibility away to the government. We have come to expect the government to take care of us from cradle to the grave. When ever something goes wrong in our lives we are very quick to point a finger to someone or something else. We have become a people of "if only". If only this or that or someone would have done something things would be different. Everyone is to blame but our selves. We do not want to take any responsibility for our actions. We want someone else to fix things for us. We have agreed to be a society of victims. As a result societies have now found themselves totally trapped and dictated to by governments.

The Creator has given us the gift of freewill, but we as a society have chosen to give this gift way. It now time for us to reclaim this gift and to break free of the trap we have created. It is now time for us to take back our responsibility for our lives. The use of this gift means that we have an infinity possibilities of choices. We just have to realise this and break free of our limited vision. We have to realise that there are no right or wrong decisions. Each decision is only the decision of that moment. The decision is not right or wrong it only a decision and as such can be easily changed with another decision. But, with the use of our freewill also comes responsibility. When we make use of our power of choice, we also have to accept totally the outcome of these choices. We cannot blame anyone or anything for choices that do not have the outcome we desired. For example, if I choose to go riding my motorcycle without a helmet and I fall and hurt myself. That is my choice and I have to accept the consequences. I do not need some law to tell me what I should do. That is my choice.

At this moment in time with hurricanes battering the shores of the US, as well as other natural calamities striking elsewhere in the world, and the changes that these are going to bring to the world, we are being given a chance (or maybe I should say, we are being forced) to reclaim our freewill. We can choose to don the victim mentality and blame others, or we can choose to create a new life for ourselves. One based on integrity and self-empowerment. It is no use blaming ourselves or anyone else for the predicament we have gotten ourselves into, let the past go. Now it the time for breaking free of the trap that holds you victim and to reclaim your power and your freedom of choice. By reclaiming your freedom of choice, you will see you have an infinite choice of possibilities. It is time to see the bright crystal light within yourself and to take back responsibility for your life. Are you ready to accept this challenge?

Love and blessings,

Wawa Quilla

COMMUNITY

Last week I had the opportunity to visit a friend's farm about an hours walk from the village of Machu Picchu. It was a beautiful walk following the railroad line. On one side the sacred river of Wilkamayu rushed on it way to meet the mighty Amazon and on the other side the majestic mountains reach to the heavens. My friend's eco-farm is nestled in a valley between two streams that feed the Wilkamayu River. On the farm there are avocado, orange, lemon and bananas trees, potatoes, lettuce, onions and other vegetables. All these are grown organically; the fruits of Pachamama, Mother Earth, grown lovingly. All around the gardens the tropical rainforest teams with life.

After a healthy lunch from the fruits of the earth, I sat on a raise of land deep within the rainforest. As I sat quietly observing all around me, I was shown that the forest is the Great Spirit's example of how a community should be. Within the forest all beings live in perfect harmony. All beings have a purpose, and although they are different, they all join together to create a healthy environment that is in balance. Every single creature, from the bacteria, fungus, small plants, trees, insects, animals, and birds contribute to the well-being of the forest. They are all needed for their expertise. Each being contributes to the wellness of the whole. Within the forest there is no discrimination, jealousy, competition, or animosity. There is only harmony.

We, the two-legged creatures of the Earth, need to follow the teachings of the forest. We need to bury our differences and come together, each with our expertise to create a community of one, like the forest. We have to stop competing with one another and relearn how to work together to create a world of harmony and peace. This is not as difficult as it would seem, all we have to do is realise we are all the same. We are all created from the same source. The source of Divine Love. When we can see beyond the physical and see the crystal love energy within each of us, then we can come together to build a place of love and harmony. At that time, we will then become a part of the whole and join in harmony with Nature and encompass the One with the Oneness of All.

Love and blessings,

Wawa Quilla

FACING FEAR

In one of my last writings I mentioned some of the things I have seen about the future. I do not tell I all I have seen in dreams, meditations or ayahuasca visions. I have a gift or is it? What ever it is, is not important. It just is!

Several years ago when I began in earnest on this path to self, I would often visit Ato Girma, an Ethiopian shaman, with his house perched on a hill about 3 hours drive outside of Addis Ababa. In our talks and in his seeing, he would often ask me, "Why do you willingly want to follow this path?"

My reply was always, "Ato Girma, I feel I have to."

He would then look at me with his dark brown eyes and sadness on his face and say, "Following this path is both a blessing and a curse. You can still walk away." But I knew I could not.

At the time I thought I had a good idea of what Ato Girma was telling but it was not until I went to Marcahuasi, high in the Andean mountains, did I fully understand what he was saying. Marcahuasi is located in the Central Highlands of Peru and is a table mountain of about 3 sq. km and at an altitude of 4,200 m above sea level. It is an incredibly magical place with gigantic rock sculptures, made by Nature or man, who is to say. The magic of Marcahuasi began for me the moment I arrived. After I greeted the spirit of the mountain and asked permission to enter with an offering of tobacco, I heard a voice very clearly say to me, "We have been waiting a long time for you." I was taken aback, for why would the mountain be waiting for me?

Over the next several days my friends and I explored the sculptures scattered all around the top of the mountain. Many of these formations had messages for me. Most of those messages were greetings, encouragement and connecting to the energy of the place. The last night there we did a special ceremony that lasted the whole night. It was during this ceremony that a huge rock formation called the Rock of Humanity called to me. I went over and sat with my back against it. The rock took me into its heart and began to download great amounts of information to me. In the hour or more that I was there I saw the whole of this period of life on earth flash before me. I was shown all the horror we have committed in the name of civilization and saw what is coming. With a great stream of tears running down my face I asked, "Why do I have to see all of this?" The answer that came was, "You cannot go forward until you face all of this. You cannot have wisdom without facing the pain. This is the way it is." After that message I was also shown what will come when earth has been cleansed of all the darkness. As I sat by the fire later, I recalled Ato Girma's works and knew what he was talking about. I was not consumed with fear or anxiety about the future. I knew that this was the way it was. I knew I had to be a light of love in world of darkness. I had to stand solid like the mountains and hold the love energy. At times I feel great pain and sadness, but it is because people do not see and continue to run around reacting to the outside world.

I could give you details of my many visions but what would it create? More fear and anxiety over the future. What is to come will come; it is all destined to happen as it is supposed to. The moral of this story is that we each much face our fears and over come them. We must all come to that place of peace and tranquillity within us. We all have it. No one can show us these fears or face them for us. It is something each of us has to do on our own. We all know the way if only we would listen to ourselves and not the many voices clamouring to show us the way. This is a journey that only you can take and no guru or master can show you. It is a journey of great courage and fortitude. It is a journey of commitment and regardless of what is shown or experienced it must be faced. The dark side is only a mirror of the light. Fear is only a reaction to something that may or may not happen. Most fears are created by an outside stimulus, that if you look at it carefully, has nothing to do with your life at this moment. If you are not willing to face the darkness in those fears, you will never see the true light. You will never overcome the fear that resides inside of you, blocking the light that is within. Once the fear is faced and seen for what it truly is, a reaction, it will disappear. The light cannot shine until you come face to face with the darkness and put it aside. When you do that it no longer has a hold on you and the only thing left is the crystal essence of your being shining for all the world to see

Stop running and reacting! That is only fear. Sit and face that fear. Let the light within shine!

Love Blessings,
Wawa Quilla

AID TO FOCUSING INWARD

I have been taught a simple technique by the shamans I have been working with here in the Andes for directing our focus and intention inward. It is a simple technique but does require a bit of practise. When you are in a meditative state roll your eyes upward towards your third eye. The trick is to hold that position. It helps at the beginning to picture a golden dot in your third eye and to focus on the dot. Later it becomes easy to just roll your eyes up and hold the focus. Once you have mastered this little technique you will be amazed at what you will see.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla

CHANGES

This past week has been an interesting one for me. The forces around me have been strong and they have been very insistent that I listen to what they are telling me. This is what they have been saying.

They are telling me that right now the forces of change are great. These changes are happening on two levels, so to speak, but that these two levels of changes are interlocked and really part of a whole. On one level the changes are in the physical world. This is very evident if one pays attention to the news and various other sources of information going around the Internet. We are seeing storms of great intensity, droughts, and fires, we are seeing plane crashes, we are seeing rips appear in the government control structure and we are seeing an increase in the global power struggle. I am being told that these changes are only the beginning and that frequency and intensity of these are increasing. I have been shown a black oozing mass flow from cracks in the earth and have been told to watch the dragon and bear (this I have told for many years but the message now is stronger). I am being told that this is only cleansing and purifying. But more importantly I am being told that it is happening so that we can see the illusion of the material world and that we need to focus on the inner not outer world. We are being given a chance to face our fears head on and to overcome them.

These physical changes are happening together with an intensification of the Wave of Consciousness flowing over the earth. I was told that the intensification started to on July21 of this year and at that time we moved into a new cycle of knowing. It is very important at this time that we still the metal chatter and go within. We are going to be experiencing many things that are going to help us clean our inner house but we have to pay attention. We have to be still and we have to eliminate the fear in our lives.

The changes on the physical and spiritual levels work hand in hand. The earth is being cleaned and so are we. Through the earth changes all the illusions of the material world are being striped aside and at the same time by witnessing these changes we are being directed to focus on what is real. We are being directed to change our focus from outer to inner. We are being directed in drastic ways to realize that all we see in not all there is. We are being directed to see that reality lies within. What lies within is a dynamic and powerful crystal of love. I have seen this crystal within. It is the most beautiful sight to behold as it radiates the energy of pure unconditional love. When one can see and feel this crystalline energy within themselves, all the outer things and happenings are no longer important. We see them for they are; an illusion of control and fear.

Change is happening, the pace is quickening, nothing will remain untouched. The Universe is unfolding. Go within for it is there that you will find love. That is the only answer you need. It is also the Divine responsibility of all of us to access this love and to hold this love energy in these times of change. It is those of us who know this energy that have to radiate it and let it flow to others. Many are awakening as the Wave flows over all and they need us to hold the energy for them as they learn to deal with it. By holding and radiating this energy others will feel it and respond to it.

There is nothing to fear, all is happening for a Divine purpose.

Love and blessings,
Wawa Quilla
(Written August 27, 2005)

HAVE FUN

Today I was sitting and gazing at the mountains, enjoying a beautiful mountain day with brilliant sunshine. My mind drifted in and out of the present. Some of what drifted in was the fact that so many adults take themselves so seriously. This becomes even more evident when one pays attentions to the news or reads websites like Rumour Mill News. So I want to a pose a question to you. When was the last time you let yourself totally and completely give in to having fun? Just enjoying a space of time with complete abandonment? My guess would be it's been a while. I would like to share with you some of my experiences over the last month while I was visiting my family in Canada.

I come from a large family and have several grown up nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and nephews. I love them all very dearly and we are very close. As I have been a gypsy for over 20 years I do not get to see them very often but when I do my time with all of them is very precious. One niece lives very near to her parents and her two kids come over often. JM is seven and is a Downs Syndrome and JW is four. These two kids think, and they are not far off, that I come to Canada just to play with them. We really do have the greatest time. I get on the floor with them build towers, race monster trucks, do puzzles, tumble, laugh and basically carry on like a kid. I love it and so do they. When I am playing with them, at their level not mine, I am a kid again and time, worries, cares and all else just totally disappears. The greatest part of this is that the rest of my family, those adults with all the worries and cares, do not think it is strange or weird that a fifty year old is there playing just as intensely and with the same abandon as the youngsters. My greatest joy was when JW would phone asking, if he could come and play. When was the last time a four year old called you and asked to come over to play? I also give the same attention and time to the teenagers. Only we do things with a little less abandon. But we still lay on the floor or in bed and talk about what is really important in their world or compare drawings or talk about their dreams, the night kind. We laugh and carry on like teenagers. They too phone and ask when I am coming over.

We as adults have forgotten how to have FUN! We are so serious about everything. These little star beings can teach us so much, especially to just enjoy ourselves in the moment. Their greatest gift is to show us to do what we feel like doing and not worry what others will think. They just do and enjoy it. So go out and dance in the rain celebrating the cleansing energy that it brings. Go skinny dipping in a cool mountain stream. Skip down the street because you are happy. Smile at strangers. Roll in the grass. Most of all laugh just because.

Every where I have roamed in the world, I have always found these star beings who keep me young and who remind me not to take things so seriously and to just have FUN.

Blessings,
Wawa Quilla
August 2005

THOUGHT

There is power and energy behind all our thoughts and thus words, but when we can get beyond the thought is where the power lies. That is where the essence of our being is. It is finding that place between the thoughts that we become free and connected to the essence that is All.

Through our social conditioning we are taught to think. But what really is that thinking process that we have been taught to be so valuable. It is a way of labelling things and with this labelling comes, judgement. We look at a situation or another’s actions and immediately pass judgement. We look at the situation of a person and we think in terms of good or bad or in our mind we have some running commentary. It is such a habit or conditioned response that often we do not even realize that we are doing it.

But when we actually look at the words or thoughts that we have, we can see that they are also our own interpretation of things. When we say that something or someone is good or bad, what does it really mean? When we use the word love or tree, do we all have the same image in mind? No, these words are all subjective. We each imagine them based on our personal experiences and conditioning. Therefore, what has one meaning for one has another meaning for someone else.

We are so busy thinking, labelling and judging that we are really cluttering up our attention. Eckhart Tolle, in Stillness Speaks, sums this up by saying,

“How easy it is for people to become trapped in their conceptual mind.

The human mind, in its desire to know, understand, and control mistakes opinions and viewpoints for the truth. It says: this is how it is. You have to be larger than thought to realize that however you interpret “your life” or someone else’s lie or behaviour, however you judge any situation, it is no more than a viewpoint, one of many possible perspectives. It is no more than a bundle of thoughts. But reality is one unified whole, in which all things are interwoven, where nothing exists in and by itself. Thinking fragments reality-it cuts it up into conceptual bits and pieces.

The thinking mind is a useful and powerful tool, but it is also limiting when it takes over your life completely, when you don’t realize that is only a small of aspect of the consciousness that you are:”

It is when we can get to that place where our thoughts do not dominate our lives that we can gain awareness. When we can listen with our eyes, and not label each and everything we see, that true is revealed. Within this state of attentiveness we discover truths and who we are. It is what Krishnamurti terms “the interval between thoughts” that we become freed from the conditioning that creates judgements. Krishnamurti says, “It is only when the mind is not giving continuity to thought, when it is still with the stillness that is not induced, that without causation – it is only then that there can be freedom from the background.” This is the place we are looking for, that stillness without thought. This is the state of heightened awareness. It is a place, were we are in tune with our higher selves and the inner voice within us. It is a time when we are truly in communication with the Divine spirit with in us. This is spiritualism. As Eckhart Tolle says, “Spiritual Awakening is awakening from the dream of thought.”

References
Krishnamurti, J. The Book of Life. The following is my best attempt at an explanation. The spirit world and its workings are very simple but very difficult to explain from the perspective of the 3-D world.

The simple explanation is that I am expanding my mind and enlarging my soul/spirit by connecting to the world of spirit that is in all things. From the day I was born I have been connecting to the spirit world only I did not always see or understand it. But now I see clearly how my whole life experience has lead me to this moment. Now more than ever I know, without a doubt that everything happens for a reason. Our spirit self knows what it needs to do but only when we listen to it and have the courage to follow it, does it reveal itself in all of its beauty, magic and mystery. Each and every one of us have all this power within us but we have been conditioned from birth not to listen to the voice within. It is the conditioning that keeps us trapped and on the treadmill running endlessly pursuing outside gratification when really if we stopped, sat quietly preferably in Nature and listened we would hear the voice that tells us we are strong, powerful, beautiful, and a part of the oneness of all. In doing so our lives would change so drastically and so perfectly that we would wonder what took us so long to figure it out. Once a person has expanded the mind to accept all things and enlarged the soul to encompass all things, everything is simple, clear and easy. The balance and the beauty of all things are there to see, feel, and know. It is also there for us to use and command. I do not use the word command in the sense of ordering the Universe to do our biding but rather in the sense of asking with authority. The catch is that it cannot be taught or gleamed from outsides sources it only comes from within. All that anyone outside of yourself can do is guide you to ways of looking within. The rest is up to you. Also it must be used for the higher purpose and the good of all humanity, otherwise we unleash a monster. It is this monster that we have already unleashed into the world. It is now time for all of us to work and refocus our energies on manifesting the beauty and power of the soul purpose for all of humanity."

Love and Blessings,
Wawa Quilla

HERE

Here,
But not here.
Physical,
But not physical.
Time, but no time.
Space, but no space.
Melding dimensions,
But no dimensions.
All changing,folding,
All ONE.

Wawa Quilla

Knowing

Words cannot describe,
Knowing we are all the same,
Knowing we indeed do create our reality.
Knowing we are worrying and fretting about nothing,
Knowing there really is nothing.
Knowing that seeing the nothing and knowing the nothing is the path.
Knowing we create our reality moment by moment is the knowledge.
Knowing we can change our reality individually and collectively is the power.
Knowing a small shift in perception, a focus on the NOW, not reacting to past emotional stimulus, focusing on the love within-that means love yourself first, and projecting your wish with a clear intention, all of these change you, the world, the Universe.
